The organization offers certification on a voluntary basis to individuals that work or live in Minnesota and engage in the occupation of firefighting.

These certification levels are available to members of career and volunteer fire departments, as well as others working in the field. Levels of certification that are offered include Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Airport Fire Fighter, Fire Apparatus Operator, Public Fire Safety Educator I, Public Fire Safety Educator II.

These levels of certification have been reviewed and are nationally accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).

Other certification levels coming soon include Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III, and Fire Brigade (civilian).
